Strange ESTA email

My girlfriend and I have both received an email from ESTA today telling us we have an ESTA update

However when you click on the link there is no update just the normal page. When I try to log in to check my status it tells me there is no application. Which is true as I have an ESTA, I wanted to check my status not my application!!

Any clues?

We were due to fly to the US from the UK this afternoon which obviously isn't happening but we both have print outs saying our ESTA's are valid until August 2022 and we are re-booked to fly in March 2022.

Thanks.

Curious, what happened with this? I assume you have a National Interest Exception, or are otherwise exempt from the travel ban?

Hi - nothing has happened.

We are now left with a trip in March and two printed ESTAs.

The website is terrible and we cant tell if something has happened to our Estas Or not.

No way of knowing so it sounds like we will have to spend the money again. It shouldnt be this difficult but it is.

So what happens when you go into Check Individual Status and enter your details? I have just done mine again and while I agree that the website is clunky, I was always able to see the status.

If I remember correctly as it was a wee while ago it stated no application status - which is annoying as that isnt what I was asking it

So I checked mine again using application number, passport number, and DoB just now and it shows me the status of "authorization approved" along with the expiry date. I renewed on 15/10/21 but I see no reason why that status would ever disappear. To me it sounds like you don't have an ESTA or an application in process. And if it were me I would apply again.

I have the print out showing I do have an ESTA, valid until August 5th 2022

How can that be Application Expired?

I didn't say it was. Perhaps after XX days or so an "application" disappears off the system. But, and I don't know if this helps but I just checked with a passport that I know the ESTA has expired and I get "Application Expired" in a red box and nothing else, where I would have expected/liked "ESTA expired". So I get what you are saying about why "check status" doesn't return anything meaningful and helpful and that is what must be frustrating you. I know it would me.
