Is your application showing up in the State Dept system, and was it expedited or regular?

Like any other high volume recipient, it's almost certainly caller service and not a physical PO Box. My understanding is the distribution center *is* where that mail terminates, so it's probably just a missed scan. The actual lockbox facility that processes those applications is actually in northern Delaware, not Philly.

Did you end up getting the email stating it was shipped and if so when did it come? Mine was approved today but I haven't received the shipped email yet.

So, it said approved, then shipped, then approved again, I wrote an email to the congressman that was helping me and he said that I had been shipped via ups next day air. And indeed I received the passaport the next day (Feb 25th), but I had asked the congressman for help with my daughter's birth certificate, I needed the one that I sent with the passport application urgently to naturalize her at the Brazilian consulate, and I ended up receiving the doc today (Feb 26th) via ups next day air as well

Have you received anything yet?

I am a lot slower than most of you, but mine finally came.

Nov 23rd: mailed renewal
Dec 1st: check cashed and status changed to "In Process" on website
Feb 27th: received passport

So about 14 weeks in total. Though at least some of that was due to the now-typical pitiful performance by USPS. I actually received my old punched passport via regular mail before the new one sent via Priority (11 days in transit).

Appointments in-person how ?

I need to make an appointment at a passport office to get a passport renewed within the next week. There are no available appointments in New York City or Philadelphia. Does anyone know what time they open up appointments and how far in advance?

Waiting Games

I filled out my passport renewal form and sent that in along with old passport and new picture on February 4th as first class mail. This was from NJ to the Philadelphia po box. The usps tracking shows delivered on February 8th (Monday). Since then I have received no updates and they still have yet to cash my check. I have called passport services twice with both representatives telling me they have no information or updates and to just keep watching my account to see when the check is cashed. Anyone else have an issue such as this? I'm not sure where to go from here. Any info or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

It doesnt have to be life or death anymore. you can make an appointment for travel if you have a urgent reason to go.

https://passportappointment.travel.state.gov/

its hard to catch a reservation but I got lucky I just kept looking

Incomplete knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Uhhh yes, and if the appointments are FULL there is a "life or death" provision whereby you can force an appointment,

"

Life-or-Death Emergencies

You may be eligible for an appointment if your immediate family member has died or is seriously ill or injured while abroad and you need to travel outside the United States within 72 hours (3 business days). Immediate family members include parents, legal guardians, children, spouses, siblings, and grandparents.

If you're traveling in more than 72 hours, learn more about Where to Apply.

If you need a passport due to a life-or-death emergency within 72 hours (3 business days), you must call us. Appointments for this service are extremely limited due to our limited staffing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

They received the request on January 5th.
"Processing" [online] since then.

Update:
I received today an email (the first email communication) informing me that "the U.S. Department of State has received [the] application for [the] passport book on 01/05/2021. We're now reviewing [the] application and supporting documents. You requested routine service when you applied, which we are currently processing in 10-12 weeks". Etc.
Maybe they are actually reviewing it now!

Update: I received yesterday a letter from the Houston agency dated February 11th (!) complaining about the size of the picture I submitted. Fail on my part, but it does look like they did review the application shortly after sending the email.
Edit: actually, looking at the envelope, it was posted on the 22nd of February... so the postal performance is not as bad as originally thought.

I received an email Friday stating that they would “review and investigate”. Nothing since.

I’m now wondering if I should notify the State Department of a lost passport.

Yeah I'm basically in the same boat. Mine said delivered Sunday afternoon on February 7th to the Philadelphia po box. Not a word since and they havent cashed my check. I've called the passport agency twice but they had no information, but I guess why would they if the check isn't cashed.
