That's awesome dealhunter! I know you might second guess the expedited cost but I would be glad it got renewed so quickly

I took the data from the visajourney 2018 passport first time applications list, using only 18 records which had received their passport books. This from date of sending off the DS-11 using "Routine Service".
 • Average: 20 days
 • Median: 17 days
 • Min: 11 days
 • Max: 42 days
I could do a 1st, 2nd quartile but don't have the data in front of me, I didn't this earlier to figure out my own passport processing times.

anyone know how long minor first time passports are taking when expedited? We sent off our 2 kids applications on Monday 7/9 and got confirmation email today 7/12.

Also, I called and requested express shipping and gave my credit card number. They told me to watch out for the charge as an Indicator that the passports have shipped. My card has been charged but I haven’t received any tracking Info, passports still show processing and there’s nothing showing on my Informed delivery. Does anyone know these envelopes show up on informed delivery. We’re flying in 19 days but the airline is requesting passport numbers 4 days before fly date 😩

Passport Card renewal (routine)

05/29/2018: Mailed DS-82 using USPS First Class
05/31/2018: Delivered
06/04/2018: Application info was entered in the system
06/07/2018: Final processing stages
06/07/2018: Passport printed
06/12/2018: Received the new passport card
06/18/2018: Received my unexpired passport book and old passport card in one envelope
-----------------
New passport card wait: 14 days
Unexpired passport book wait: 20 days

My old passport card had the back layer pealed off, so it became unusable; hence, I renewed it. When I got it back, I noticed that they did not clip a corner put any holes in it. I guess they figured it was already damaged enough :)

Delays at Irving processing center

anybody here send in their passport to the Irving, TX Passport Processing Center in the last two weeks? There was a chemical spill that disrupted USPS last weekend, but I hear it’s been rectified yet my passport is still with USPS and hasn’t been delivered to the office yet. Latest tracking update:

“Your item arrived at the Post Office at 9:00 am on August 11, 2018 in DALLAS, TX 75260”

Anybody successfully apply for and get a passport renewal since the first week of August?
Passport was up for renewal and with no immediate travel plans I let it expire to bump the next renewal by several months. I sent it in no rush no expediate.

Aug 1 mailed priority mail from Florida
Aug 3 delivered in Irving Texas
Aug 7 check cleared
Aug 10 PP shipped from Arizona priority mail
Aug 11 PP delivered to my PO box.

Ten day routine renewal. ^ DOS PP Office better be careful, others might expect such service. :D

Aug 17 or so passport card and old PP arrived in separate mailings.

Interesting old PP came from Sterling VA. Does no one in Texas know how to punch two holes? Is their only "specialist" in Virginia?

The date of issue on my passport is one day after that of my N-550.
Hope i didn't exceed the speed limit driving from the naturaliation ceremony to the passport agency
Oh, and of course international travel a few days later and scheduled appointment.

I would bet that passport agencies will stop being this useful. From what i understand, when starting in 2019 we will get polcycarbonate, they will not print the passport locally anymore but need to ship them from those central print center(s?) they already use for the passport cards. More security theater.

Why do you bet that? Why wouldn’t passport agencies produce next generation passports on-site?

if 7/4(Independence Day) were not a Postal holiday, we would probably
all be holding British passports? :) (not that there's anything wrong with it)

perhaps he was thinking about "US Passport, The Next Generation" which will probably be produced on a distant planet in a different system?

but on a more serious note, I was speaking with a supervisor at the passport agency regarding my recent passport that had the wrong place of birth printed.... I asked about the next gen passport and she said they "just started getting real" but not expected until spring of 2019. :( :( :(
