The Rockies are the absolute best part of the drive. Glenwood Canyon, going through the ski resort towns, amazing.

Help me with my Trip to OC

Well I got word today that I am to vacate my loft here in Logan Square by 10/1. I have arranged to moving company for the prior week.

It's give or take 2000 miles to Irvine from my front door. I'd like to leave Monday and arrive Friday. I'd like to take the southerly route, I-40 and would like to perhaps drive approx. 400 miles a day.

I'm thinking of St Louis-OKC-Amarillo-Flagstaff-Irvine

I guess my longest stretch would be Amarillo to Flag but I will check with google maps.

You must go through and have a "LAY"over in Scottsdale; there has to be a lot of fun to be had based on the match thread. It can get you out of that Chicago funk and get back to some hotties and prepare you for the OC

i know you lived in scottsdale, but since you mention flagstaff ill mention i heard great things about spa at enchantment, 1 hour south of flagstaff

4 nights. do you want to hit new places to do/see things?
could even match.com once youre closer to destination.
TrojanHorse had his thinking cap on i see, re scottsdale.

And your question is???

ETA: BTW, OKC to Amarillo is a very easy 3.5 hour drive. Might as well keep on going to Tucumcari or ABQ.

Perhaps that's my question. I'm looking for some drive option that spreads the 2K miles at roughly 400 a day. St Louis is probably a must stop for the first night as I'll be moving that morning and wont' get out until early afternoon.

As much as I'd like to hit Scottsdale it's not going to happen. Too much of a detour. The 17 sucks as I remember it and then I'd be adding on miles taking the 10 out from Scottsdale. I'm also afraid if I stop there for a night I might never leave.

Agree that Amarillo gives you uneven days. I'd drive through to ABQ instead that day.

So my OKC-ABQ would be 541 miles or less than 8 hours. Doable of course but screws up my week and now would take 4 days not five. I'm frustrated.

IMO, the only thing worth seeing/doing in Amarillo is a visit to The Big Texan.

If you eat some enormous steak, potato, salad, etc, in a specific timeframe...it is free. Otherwise, you have to pay for it.

Even if you're not gorging yourself, it is sometimes fun to watch. While the prices aren't cheap, they're not extreme.

I've driven PHX-Pennsylvania (or the other way around) several times, and always stopped for lunch, makes a good spot between Albuquerque and Oklahoma City.

why do you have to take 40? Why not the 10?
