Star Alliance Award/Stopover/Multi Continent Question
Greetings. I apologize for the unenlightened question - I'm an AA veteran but a Star Alliance newbie.
I'm trying to arrange award travel for a relative. She will be originating in Chicago and will need to travel to CDG, TLV and DEL (likely in that order). The award will be in J.
I understand that Star awards permit one free stopover but no open jaws if the stopover is used.
I was brainstorming some ideas:
1) Award ORD-FRA(stop)-DEL-ORD, use a separate award to do CDG-TLV-FRA, and buy FRA-CDG
2) Award ORD-CDG(stop)-DEL (Is this permitted since it's not a natural connection point?) and then another award to TLV.
3) An RTW award, but these seem over priced compared to the other options.
If I could get some advice on what is permissible or better ideas than what I've come up with, that would be most appreciated. Would US consider the "nested" awards to be illegal?

I'd probably do a round trip to DEL with a stopover in CDG.
If she doesn't mind two visits to TLV, I'd also consider a round trip to TLV with a stopover in CDG.
For TLV-DEL, there are some decent connections in IST (if you're intent on using *A miles) and in AMM (if you can use some of your AA miles).
