1549 from LGA-CLT was filed as a 320 series for it's flightplan.

Probably all the computer and small personal bags they put in the OH bins.

Another reason to avoid putting your rollaboard below at all costs.

Only if it was an EOW-equipped (Extended Over Water) a/c. Otherwise just hang on to those seat cushions.

Clean-up

How does one get a whole plane out of a river? Just curious.

Those look like seat cushions which people probably took with them in case they needed to float in the water.

CNN reported the FAA has said that the flight hit a flock of geese on departure from Runway 4 at LGA. A320.

They are now showing live shots and having interviews with passengers as they arrive at the ferry boat piers. Most of the passengers look dry around there life vests but are wet below the waist like they were standing on the wings. One passenger being interviewed said the back of the plane started filling with water "very fast" and he was wet from the waist down, but that the ferries picked them up very quickly.

It was overwater equipped and it had slide/rafts, thank god.

I don't know the answer to your question, but it looks like that tug that's right up against the plane is doing something to prevent it from going completely under.

Wow. No joke, but a few weeks ago, I had a VERY vivid dream about being on a US flight that slid off the runway into water and submerged. The next day, I was flying PHX-CLT, and had a lengthy convo with the lead FA about my dream, and about what would happen to pax onboard, and how the crew would handle such an event.

It looks like everyone got out OK, despite the major, major scare and trauma.
