Honestly #2 if I would see an enlisted member of the armed forces and there was FC seat available to add him/her to my upgrade I would do it regardless. I figured out that if they fly in uniform here in US they must be of some sort friendly business on domestic aircraft. On a short (less then 3 hr flight) I would even consider switching seats. On a long haul probably not.
As I said, no snark perceived upon further reading...I'm just used to the other sde of things on FT and much more accustomed to the crowd that would still call servicemembers "babykillers". Your generosity is much appreciated, and I hope at some point you get a chance to exercise your good values.

I always look at the issue this way. First of all I do NOT agree with what we have done in Iraqi, HOWEVER, I am proof that many of us DO care about our military men and women REGARDLESS of how we feel about our current admininstration's decisions.

I have no children, but when I see many of these young boys and girls on our flights and they have either served or about to do so in Irag, I think of how much I would want some kind father/mother figure to take care of my son or daughter after what they just went thru or what they WILL go thru. This make giving them the royal treatment, whether in f/c OR coach, an honor.
