TLV-USA direct flights have very high loads, usually 90%-100%, many times it's hard finding a paid J seat days before the flight, let alone an upgrade.. I wouldn't hold my breath regarding an upgrade in/out of TLV, demand for paid J is very very high...

Of the 20 business class seats, two are reserved for pilots' rest on those flights, so only 18 are available for booking or upgrades.

I have a TLV-DFW in early December and I'm wondering how I will be able to upgrade it? Just book it and call to apply the SWU, as usual?

Thanks
Yes.

AA's wording is as reported:

we are exiting the market completely due to lack of profitability.

So, rampant speculation here. Service moving to MIA, operated on a 772 CIP?

Service not moving anywhere, exiting TLV market entirely as is being announced as such.

Despite what people here thought and often posted, flight was incredibly unprofitable:

In its six years, the Philadelphia to Tel Aviv route never turned a profit in any year, and has already lost over lost more than $20 million on this service in the past year alone.

The confusing thing about this is that they'd stated the opposite on at least one pre-merger earnings call, which you're supposed to be able to put some reliance on, so either losses are newer (not implied by the announcement), they "misspoke", or something else is afoot, such as a problem with a regulator in Israel (though we had believed the old TWA worker dispute had been resolved).

No, nothing fantastical like that-- unprofitable.

Re-route on partner airline or full refund - your choice.
