Award processing fee + Quick ticketing fee?

I just booked a Mexico trip.

Taxes and fees $87

Quick ticketing fee $75
Award processing fee $35

Total $197.00 (of which $115.00 is total bs fees - booked online w no live assistance).

How are they able to get away with this?

Was there a mail campaign that I missed? (FWIW I did do a 'search'.).

Simple. You were willing to pay for it.

Actually, I took it to the last step of the booking processing... then didn't buy.

So, oh how do I get rid of the $35 fee now, oh wise one?

I believe if you have the US Air Mastercard, and are Dividend Miles Select with it, they waive the award processing fees. If you are Gold status or above, they waive both the award processing and quick ticket fees.

Given that most of the time, award inventory worth having isn't released until it becomes obvious to the revenue management gnomes that they won't sell every last seat, the "quick ticket fee" is purely a revenue grab on silvers and general members actually USING their miles.

The Premier Mastercard does not offer the benefit of waiving the $35 fee. Perhaps it did in the past?

The fee waiver kicks in for DM select - goes off annual fee and annual spend.

http://www.usairways.com/EN-US/DIVID...CARDS/DMS.HTML has the info

Perhaps you should have used your AA miles where the award processing fee and the quick ticketing fee are identical?

Thanks LowlyDLsilver! Good catch: And, if you spend $25,000 or more a year on the card, we'll waive your award processing fees

My bad... perhaps. I guess technically, all I did was price / hold inventory.

But back to the purpose of the tread, this double stacking is pretty pathetic!

On the other hand, there are certain partner flights that plainly exist that US agents simply can't see (try booking an award for OZ KIX-GMP or GMP-SHA). Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
