Lax Club To Reopen 11/1?

According to some HP people at LAX:
The Los Angeles US Airways Club will be reopening as a US Airways Club on 11/1. The agents previously furloughed as a result of the club closure will be called back to work at that time. This makes perfect sense because although the club is closed, everything inside it has been left intact.

The SFO club will remain closed for the time being.
Anyone else hear this?

Someone else posted it in another thread.

Assuming this is true, it's great news.

The SFO club remaining closed makes sense as SFO wants US out of that wing of T1 so they can tear it down. Question is where will US now go?

What about the Concourse HP is currently located on? I flew through there a couple of years ago, but don't recall if there's any gate space available.

Haven't heard this myself yet but if true, I'll be sure to book some of my LAX trips this fall/winter on US. Some of the ladies who worked in the LAX club were 20+ year employees who started out with PSA, so it'll be wonderful to have them back!

Yay!!!

T1 at LAX is an absolute dump w/o the Club.

Maybe they could share the RCC at SFO like AA and Qantas do at LAX T4... @:-)

Exclamation No surprise whatsoever.

This really isn't news.

Almost anyone on the HP forum could tell that before the merger HP wanted the LAX lounge. They really wanted US out of T1 altogether. There's a thread about it somewhere.

Now that they're merging, it's only logical that the club would reopen.

This is wonderful news if it's true! Now if US would only drop their fares for the Saturdays before & after Thanksgiving - The cheapest fares are now running $900+, vs. about $500 for UA. I guess I'll hold out for a while longer. I really, really want to fly US in November if the LAX club really is re-opening.

Doesn't it figure that I'll be departing LAX on 10/31?

Fantastic News

This certainly makes pre-departure to the east coast a much happier beginning. Looking forward to seeing some long-timers back behind the desk.

In one of the announcements earlier this year, SFO is one of the airports that US is targeted to move near UA. I suspect that this is being considered once the merger is complete. There will be more traffic connecting to Asia from the merged airline and it makes sense to be in the same terminal. My guess is Air Canada may be in the planning for this move as well so that all of the North America *A airlines will be close.

The re-opening of the club also means that the security short cut will once again be available!

This certainly is good news. Maybe my lifetime US Club membership is now a bit better of an "investment.”

Long term, doesn't it make sense that US/HP move out of T1? Where is there space? T2? Hasn't United significantly reduced its gate usage/utilization in T8/9

Indeed. Seven hours before this dupicate thread was opened.

And the earlier thread was started by the OP.

But then, even that thread was an extension of discussion in an existing thread.

Despite the club closing, I have been able to take advantage of the shortcut by asking an agent to walk me over to the elevator. Never a problem.

True- In fact you really don't even need an escort sometimes. Big help when the security line is backed up to T2
