US int'l bumping compensation/protection
How much does US typically offer for bumping compensation from Europe to the U.S.? I'll be flying the latter of the 2 flights from LGW to PHL. All economy classes are shown to be sold out on both PHL flights with only a handful of J seats showing available currently. The CLT flight is similarly booked up.
Also, if I am bumped, will they protect me on a discounted US shuttle ticket that is ticketed seperately (flying on a return BOS-LGA after the LGW-PHL-BOS return leg)?
First to volunteer at LGW if all's o.k.!

They frequently show heavier booking than there really is. THe seat map on ITN or whatever will indicate almost no seats, and Sabre will show at least 7 seats available. Of course, this means overbooking, but if they are doing that, it means there is a high no-show factor. Don't plan on being bumped.

I wouldn't worry about being protected on a shuttle flight. If you miss your shuttle flight, just catch the next one even on a discounted ticket.

Thanks for the quick responses. The bookings for the LGW-PHL/CLT flights seem to have filled up pretty quickly in the past 48 hrs. Never been bumped whenever I've volunteered so this is my opportunity.
