The difference between 767 On Water and ...over land

Recently been on both version. Seated in F that has tight legroom in both versions. (C on 777 is much roomier).

Coudn't figure the difference between the two versions, except I assume Over Water has larger fuel tanks?

I hope you were travelled on the "over water" version -- because the "on water" version doesn't sound like fun!

Nothing to do with the fuel tanks. The over water versions are equipped with water survival equipment: life vests and life rafts.

Thanks.
Bizzare naming.
I hope the on land version of 767 is equipped with parachutes for emergency landing.

There are actually three major 767 variations (with one small additional subset of 767-200s). All are overwater, so I'm not exactly certain what you're asking. The 767-200 is smaller, older, and typically flies premium transcons with 3 classes of service. It does carry less fuel than a 767-300. There are 2 types of 767-300s - the 2 class "domestic" aircraft (which still flies overwater ETOPS to Hawaii), or the 3 class "international" airplane. Both have the same fuel capacity, but the domestic aircraft has derated thrust engines - 52,000 lb. as opposed to 60,000 lb. per engine.

Mark Rogers:
Thanks.
I must have been within 13 days on 2 class 767-300 ETOPS to HI and then 2 classers 767 within CONUS. Never been on a 3 class 767. (I like the 3 class 777).
