EQM Bonus Error?

Hi,
I have Premier status and recently completed a round-trip ICN-SAN flight. I booked a full fare B economy ticket (and upgraded to business with miles). According to UAL, I should receive a 50% EQM bonus for the full-fare paid ticket. Yet, my mileage account only shows the following, which seems to reflect only a 25% bonus credited:

UA 892 ICN-SFO B Class: Miles Added = 5664; Elite Bonus = 1416
UA 838 SFO-SAN B Class: Miles Added = 500; Elite Bonus = 125

UA 853 SAN-SFO B Class: Miles Added = 500; Elite Bonus = 125
UA 893 SFO-ICN B Class: Miles Added = 5664; Elite Bonus = 1416

Is this an error, or am I misunderstanding something?

I am very close to making Premier Exec, so I need the miles (just registered for double miles promo too...SWEET! )

Thanks for the help,

Iwalani

All the miles totals you are looking at there from your MP statement reflect RDM and not EQM values. The flights when posted should have an asterisk next to them indicating they they earn an additional 50 % EQM bonus. This EQM bonus is only reflected in your EQM total for the year, and not in the statement.

Have you read the FAQs? That 25% is your redeemable bonus miles as a 2P. THe 50% EQM bonus for a B fare will post later and you should see next to your flight number and asterisk.

*This flight earned a 50% EQM bonus or something along those lines

Agree with gbsfo. Check your EQM balance, not your RDM balance. Sometimes, you'll get 100% EQM posting immediately after flights are credited and then a 50% bonus EQM for class-of-service posting a couple of days later. You should see the asterisk for the flights for which the EQM bonus applies.

If you're paying full B and then burning miles on top of that to upgrade, you'd better get your extra EQMs!

Yep! I see the asterisk and the fine print at the bottom. Thank you for pointing that out.

So, on my account summary, my Year to Date EQM total should include the bonus miles, correct?

Yes, although the bonus may post a day or so later.
Since only the total EQM is posted on the web site, many FTers keep a separate spreadsheet tracking individual flight EQMs.

I hope you're aware that this newest DEQM promotion applies only to the base miles and not miles from class-of-service bonuses.

This offer does not apply to class-of-service redeemable bonus miles, elite bonus miles, redeemable bonus miles or promotional EQM.
So, in your case, you should get 250% of the base miles as EQMs, but not 300% since you don't double the class of service bonus EQMs.

I wish I had thought of doing that previously. I don't remember what my EQM total was prior to this last trip, but I think the EQM credits have all been applied.

I am still learning all the revenue passenger rules/tricks. Most of my travels previously had been as a non-rev when I worked at UAL. So much to learn!! You've all been a big help, so thanks!

Cool

I was a flight attendant for 7 years. When you work in Onboard Service, there are a lot of other aspects of the operation you are not exposed to, so my knowledge might be a bit limited.

+1 on the experience of the EQM bonus not posting immediately with the RDM. It has posted for both UA and LH metal (LH TATLs only of course) within a few hours of the RDMs.

+1 on the spreadsheet. It is the only way for an keep sane. I've also found that it is never too early to start. While in 2007 I had mysterious EQMs that I never tracked down, having the spreadsheet started by September was indispensable for tracking the rest of the EQMs and ensuring I'd make 1K again (in a year with no DEQM no less).

It is never too late to start one. You can easily reconstruct your itineraries beginning on 1 Jan of each calendar year. You can also start one for 2010 now if you have any carry over miles from Elite Choice from this year or flights booked for 2010.
