In my experience, the hosting company has to OK the script before they let you use it, which is just a quick formality (if your script is doing something legitimate, that is).

Ok, here's my version of auto promo registration tool.

1. Open http://www.trialsoftware.com/nan358/uapromo/ with your browser. (I tested this with IE 5.0 only.)

2. Browser window will be divided into two parts, and in the lower area you'll see United's promotion list page. Copy all the page and paste it into "Promotion Text" area in the upper area.

3. Click "Extract Codes" button. Promotion codes will be extracted and entered into "Promotion Code List" area. If you have specific promotion codes you want to register into, you can add them into the list area too.

4. Enter your MP# and click "Register All" button to start auto registration.

5. If by some reason you want to stop the process, click "STOP!" button.

(Note added)

You can use this script locally. Just copy three files -- index.html, main.html and work.html -- into a folder in your local drive, and open your copy of index.html with browser.

This script assumes a promotion code always starts with letter "MP" followed by a capital letter, zero or one blank, three characters of number and/or capital letter.

When I tried this, it picked 20 promo codes. Three of them couldn't be registered -- MPN 951, MPN B41 and MPN C09. One was expired and the other two are the promo codes for online reservation bonus promo that you don't need to register.

Very nice. How do I copy the files?

pynchonesque,

I don't know I can keep files in there permanently. Since all the processing is on the client (web browser) side and no server side assistance is necessary, anyone can place these files in their own web site...maybe MatthewClement's Unofficial United Airlines Guide would be a good candidate?

egarrett,

Please use these links:

http://www.trialsoftware.com/nan358/uapromo/main.html
http://www.trialsoftware.com/nan358/uapromo/work.html

Right click on links, select "Save As" and put them into your HDD.

nan358,

Thanks. Works like magic.

One note for people that are downloading the web pages. Make sure you save the files as .html and not .htm (which is the "Save Target As" saves it by def.

O.K. I now feel real stupid. I do work with computer networks for a living.

I have downloaded the files to my local computer. Now I try to open index and get the following error.

The page cannot be displayed in the top box.

What am I doing wrong?

egarrett,

Make sure that the saved file names end with .html and not .htm. At least this is the problem that I had last night (read the post above yours).

I made another tool which exhaustively scans possible promo codes and tries to retrieve promo titles from ual.com. I once posted it here, but deleted because it may overload ual.com.

I ran the tool and found rwo promotions not listed in ual.com are running now. Those are:

MPNC81: Washington, D.C. - Phoenix bonus
MPNI51: US Open

All can be registered today. Does someone know any specifics?

BTW three promo codes are added in the list in ual.com since yesterday:

MPNK31: Chile bonus miles
MPNL21: Washington, D.C. - Orlando
MPNM51: Chicago - Columbus
