Need Comp Advice
Gone are my days of flying paid C transcons. Even further are the times when I used to fly paid C to CDG and LHR.
Folks, I won't even make Premier this year, much less retain PPS on SQ. My Kris gold is expiring too (i'd like to see SQ comp me, yeah right). At least I still have my job.
I called MP to see if I would make it for the loyalty program, and they said No! .
Here's my case:
I made Premier in Febuary 2000 and Exec (at over 68K) October (same year). Apparently I have to be at least a premier for 2 years to qualify, making both Premier and Exec in the same year doesn't cut it.
I have over 13K real status miles now(no double promo here).
I DO HOWEVER have :
ticked and paid for but will soon expire OPEN full Y tickets STL-ORD-HKG-SIN, unused which I cannot use. I don't have the time to do a mileage run, but If I did use that ticket I'd more than cut it for at least a premier (with double stats, hell ya!)
I also have a few short hops (tickets paid for, unused and expired) that I never used because of changed plans and cant get any money back because they are non refundable.
Burnt travel budget.
Now if I took those trips (paid for, mind you), I'd make at least premier with no comps this year. I just can't do the trips because I do longer need to and don't have the time.
I'd like to keep some status (I anticipate flying more next year). More importantly I'd like to see the stock I bought at 35 go back to some decent level. Any suggestions to plead my case to United?

I dont have the time to make the trip anyway. I barely have time to breathe (doing the work of several people)
That's the point, I have all these tickets. Paid for. The SIN ticket value is going to expire soon, and it was paid for in SG dollars. I can't use it for personal use, but there's value in the ticket.
I have tickets that would put me beyond the 25K mark but I can't make the trip, but still want to keep some status on UA.
Help!

I don't think it's the paying for tickets that gets you the status. After all, many people have said that they attain 1K for $3500 with "smart mileage runs."
You want the status, then fly. If you're not flying that much anyway, then what does it matter if you have status or not? This is not meant to sound anything but curious. Why should UA give you and others status when many of us actually PAID and FLEW this year and made the status without a comp?
Of course, if you read other posters here, you'll see that UA is comping many people. So, per usual, hang up, call again until you get the answer you want.

I tried getting a new biz associate comped 2 weeks ago - she has status on YX (40+ miles/year) and had additionally flown 14+ on NW - UA rep told me sorry - comps were redefined mid-year 2001 so as to be consistent when applied and they had to follow guidelines. I called back later asked again and explained that I was comped in Feb. based on my YX status and additional miles would like to do the same for new biz assoc. and was told the same thing.

If its important to maintain your status, I think you need to take a Friday off (as well as the weekend) and do a run.
