Basenji,

Thanks for the response. The ones I mentioned are easy to swallow anyway. What about the NRT-ORD? It seems logical the earlier flight (884) would be cancelled Eastbound leaving the evening flight. Many travellers in that direction sleep anyway. I am on the earlier one in MArch and wonder whther it would be good to switch to the later flight? The Westbound 881 and 883 are harder to pick between though as they only leave an hour or so apart and are stay awake and work flights.

I realize this question gets a bit specific, but if you can share any hints they are, as always graetfully received.

Be well,

Mike

I just heard from UA office that the HKG-LAX will be terminated from Oct 1. but they have no idea on the re-routing. Has this been confirmed? since I can still buy ticket from thier web site. I will be flying from LAX to HKG on Oct 1. My guest is LAX-NRT-HKG or LAX-SFO-HKG?

I'm trying to figure out why they just upgraded IAD MUC from a 763 to a 777 (especially considering that we are headed to the winter). Seems like strange timing.

FWIW, I just checked with 1K reservations, as I often take UA1/2 (LAX<->HKG), and they said that as of now UA plans to maintain that route after 1 Oct.

I have not seen this in writing, but was told that one of the provisions in the loan and loan guarantee package congress is working on is that no airline executive in an airline receiving these benefits could earn above $300,000.

According to several reports today, the clause is such that those executives currently earning above $300,000 per year are prohibited from receiving any raise for the next two years. So they can still continue to earn 7 figures, they just cannot increase that pay.

As of Oct 1, UA will cancel services between LAX-HKG http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif, JFK-EZE, JFK-GRU. These are the only routes I've known of. Of course, there will be other route/service reduction. Apollo will reflect these changes sometime this weekend or early next week. This is truly the saddest times at UAL. Many people have been let go and many others are wondering whether they'll have a job tomorrow. Thanks for your continued support!

IAD-MUC was a 777 up until the end of last winter some time... and given the number of freed-up 777s with the cancellation of JFK-EZE and JFK-GRU, you've got to figure that they're looking for places to put them.

Just called UA to confirm my IAD-CDG flight for early October. UA 912 (my original flight) has been cancelled. UA 914 remains (automatically rebooked on that one but no new C seat assignment for my upgraded H fare until I asked for it).

I just read a post on a Japanese BBS that NRT-SIN will also be axed in late Oct. (HKG-NRT in early Oct.) While I do not vouch for the authenticity of the info on the anything-goes Net, I rebooked my award reservation on this route.

The 1K agent was very professional. She was trying to give me a seat assignment and told me that she was advised to give a seat in the main cabin because they will not have enough attendants in the upper deck to take care of passengers ........ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Its official....UA 884 NRT-ORD is canceled.

I had a reservation on Oct 3rd. I was moved over to 882 later on the same day.

Many thanks to Basenji and the rest of FT for the heads up on this.

This early bird got his upgrade.

OK I'll bite. There are usually two up there. So it is down to ONE for all those expensive seats in C? Simply don't believe that to be honest.

I'm confused... if HKG-SIN and NRT-SIN have been or are being cancelled, how do you get to SIN? Will SIN be removed as a destination?
