The Case of the Missing Eggs
I am just finishing the last of 4 HNL detours on my way back home, after a 67K bis 10 day mileage run.
Maybe I am getting a little cranky by now
, but since I havent stopped in a time zone long enough, jet lag hasnt been a problem.
Anywhoo, seated in 1H , must've dozed off, as I don't remember taking off at all to find the Purser standing there telling me she had just given away the last egg meal. O well ya snooze ya lose, eggs would have been my preference as the fruit plate is bleh with too many grapes.. I dislike grapes intensely. But I just nodded and said OK.
Sitting in 1H gives me poll position for the galley action, and it was out of genuine interest I watched the galley attendant prepare the meals, (not Sure why they don't wear gloves when they handle food , but that is I guess is a whole other story.
Any way, to cut it short.. A male FA comes up from coach and sails off with a foil covered plate.. Hmm I think, interesting, yup a quick wander down to stretch my legs, found him scarfing down an egg meal

5 mins later, the Purser opens a foil tray, and yup
egg meal, right in front of me, I cant resist, so I say " those eggs look good", she turns to shield it from me... seriously
and says "it's a crew meal, we have a long day today doing a turn around"
Wish I'd thought to comeback saying I have as well
question : just for clarity, could that have been a crew meal, I didn't see any other crew eating those eggs.
I am not so much annoyed about missing the eggs, but that she compounded it with a possible crew meal falsehood
Any thoughts on whether an mail somewhere is a good idea?

What is the flight you flew? SFO-HNL? or SFO-IAD? or LAX-DEN?

SFO-HNL, sitting in the RCC now, as my HNL-LAX is delayed by more than an hour, any longer and my LAX-MEL looks dicey, but I think it will be OK.
I took this same set of flights last week some time, had a guy Purser, and he was fantastic, and it was all great, I dunno today I just felt the whole crew was phoning it in, shame, because I have been really impressed.

Noelene - Sorry to hear about this, but I think you need to move on.
Hopefully you're in F HNL-LAX. Remember to stay awake and order your first choice of meal ASAP. I guess the crew like eggs too.

Crews routinely have hot meals loaded for them so my guess is that they were not stealing food from F px. Was it the same exact thing as what the F px got served? Maybe. Should they have offered you one of their meals? Not unless they had an extra, IMHO. Should you get over this and move-on? Absolutely.

An email for not getting eggs when you were not awake to request them when they were available? I do hope you were not serious about that email.
They load crew specific meals all the time. Those may or may not have the same food options that are served to passengers.
Even if they were actual passenger loaded meals, once they came through and took orders, I believe they are free to take them for crew if they want. They should not have to leave the meals alone on the off chance that someone may later want that specific item.
I would suggest that you let the purser know in advance the next time if eggs are that important to you. That way, they can ensure to hold aside a specific breakfast if you are asleep when they take orders. OR, just create a sign that you put on you when you sleep that says "Eggs please!"....

Sounds like a great MR Noelene overall^
But since you asked, I would absolutely not waste my time emailing for that. We all know for sure the crew gets their own meal, and you're safely on your way home. Lots to be thankful for and I personally like to assume good intention

Yeah - the MR must be getting to you. Anyone who actually hungered for UA F eggs - made from some sort of chemically synthesized powder and cooked to a rubbery-foam like substance. Fruit is worlds healthier.

Email whom for what reason? Really, I would think there are more pressing reasons to email UAL than "the crew may have eaten my breakfast, but I'm not sure 'cause I was sleeping". Now that would end up on the Call Center Break room fridge for all to chuckle over.
