Basenji - Hide Thyself!

I was bummed when Delta ordered Russ to leave the Delta board. Now AA has ordered Jill to quit posting on that board. I hope that same thing doesn't happen to Basenji.

I haven't done any super detective work through old threads so I don't know if you (Basenji) have revealed enough about yourself to track you down, but I am glad that you use a hotmail address and I do hope you are careful.

I am not trying to make "much ado about nothing" I just really appreciate your perspective and want you to stay around.

C'mon, this is paranoia stuff here surely folks? Basenji has never posted anything other than helpful factual info. UA do not have SOS coupons, and you can't be fishing for flyer feedback to the brass if no-one knows who you are! xxxxxx, yyyyy zzzzzz, rrrrrr, and kkkkk etc, should all actually be promoted and complimented by brass for going the extra mile for their clients, in their OWN time too. They are all fine ambassadors for their employee owned airline.

That isn't how UA corporate mentality would feel unfortunately. Trust me. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

I'm STILL at work right now (and have been here for the last 13 hours) so maybe my judgment is slipping . . .

Was this an inappropriate thread to start? If anyone feels that it was, or that it could cause further trouble, let me know and I will delete it.

The only thing inappropriate is that an entire list of employee monikers have now been clearly identified!

Fters themselves have done the homework for UA!

I find the entire situation here among the US airlines to be disheartening, especially compared to the point of view of Starwood, Hilton, and Qantas. Hopefully any UA employees online here are safe from potential stupidity.

My understanding is that Jill over at AA was the very helpful all the time but they still didn't like it!

I believe we really need to think before we start posting travel industry employee FT ID's in our messages.

Editing them does not change the fact that they were posted. They are on this board trying to assist each of us. I do not believe any of us are helping them by summarizing their ID's in a post.

Just my two cents...

Thanks to you all for the concern....I do try and make some small contribution to the board, and will continue to do so.

I must admit that yesterday, I was hiding from the angry mobs upset over several mechanical delays, including my flight, at one of our major hubs. Eventually I ran out of duty time and ended up coming home a day late....

Hope none of you FTers were caught up in that mess - it felt like last summer all over again!

In any event, I'm a pretty good judge of when to keep a low profile and will exercise that judgement if warranted.

You've made more than "a little" contribution on this board, and I for one appreciate your help on aircraft nose numbers and configurations!

I was a "victim" of one of the mechanical delays at one of the UA hubs on the same day. While it may or may not be the same one you were involved in, I would say the flight, cabin, ground and gate crew all were superb in trying to get the problem fixed and get me to where I needed to be. It was nothing like last summer, mainly thanks to the UA employees involved!

I believe a little anonymity goes a long way when Big Brother is watching, and we all need to pitch in to help protect those who watch out for us.

Most likely it was idiot corporate lawyers at AA and other who panicked to management that
these FT'ers might be seen as representing their respective airlines and more or less
engaging in "unauthorized communications".

It doesn't matter to these people that these FT'ers were helpful to us and made our experiences with the aforementioned airlines better or less complicated than they might otherwise have been. They aren't trained(or usually allowed) to think like this.
To them, all that matters is that it wasn't authorized, so it carries no official spin or disclaimer behind it so it's trouble. Their job isn't to be concerned about the customers, just the corporate backside.

The lawyer's knee-jerk kicks somebody in rug row in the butt and they in turn kick these FT'ers in instinctive response.

JD(who has been on the receiving end of similar kicks at other times)
