Second mileage program options
This has probably been discussed but cant find it. i am trying to find a mileage program to put miles after i make my UA 1k each year, and link other mileage earning to it such as credit card. Goal is *A miles for award tickets since UA blocks star net. I am thinking LH since I fly them sometimes, but could choose any carrier really. Anybody already figured this out?

Air Canada is nice since once you get 35,000 miles there, you get free RCC access even on domestic United trips. Downside is I don't believe AC gives any type of elite bonus when you fly UA.

Urm, sorry, maybe a stupid question, but do I understand this correctly: I cannot use Milegae Plus miles for Award tickets on other StarAlliance Airlines?

I've seen a bunch of folks on these boards choosing British Midland - you may want to check that out.

One advantage to selecting AC, assuming your credit card is the SPG AmEx, is that you can transfer Starpoints to AC at double the ratio you'd get if transferring to United.
