same day standby question

I should know this...and i coudln't find an answer via the search tool. As a premier exec, can I standy for an earlier flight same day at no cost? Does it matter if the flight is a US # but on UA metal?

Thanks!

The first part is easy. Standby is fine no cost. BUT if it is a US flight then you can probably only standby on US.

let me expand upon this. outbound is a US flgiht # but on UA metal. Return is UA flight #, UA metal. I want to take an earlier flight on the outbound and since I will be in the UA terminal at LGA, obviously i would prefer to standby for UA. Do you think this is possible?

The flight number never matters. If it's UA metal, you can stand by for free. And this applies to everyone, not just 1Ps...

You can also guarantee a seat (if available) for $75. I would check loads to see whether this is worth it - one advantage is that you can be added to the upgrade list.

Had no problem 2 weeks ago get same-day confirmed on DEN-BOS when I was booked on DEN-ORD-BOS with a US ticket.

Only when your request is within 3 hours from the time your desired flight takes off. More on this here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...e-process.html
