Same Day Change

I just got off the phone trying to change my flight at 2:30pm to a 4pm flight. I was told that I could not do that until within 3 hours of my current departure time. One line it states that you can make same-day changes to flights within 3 hours of your scheduled departure time. This seems like a bogus answer - shouldn't I be able to change to a flight that departs within 3 hours any time during the same day of travel?

I believe you are trying to do a confirmed standby?

If there is ample space on the flight it may make sense to just do a regular stand by and save the $75.

Also--When the confirmed stand by change from 4 hours to 3 hours before departure?

You can make changes within 3 hours of the scheduled departure time of the flight you want to take. Since your new flight departs at 4pm, You can call any time after 1pm. @:-)

"Confirmed Standby" is an oxymoron invented by FT. The proper phrase is "Confirmed Same-Day Change". ^

Agree I remember it used to be 4hrs, but I guess that was too much flex.
Here is the current UA wording on it all.
