Comped status
Hi. I'm currently a basic Premier member with UA and a Platinum (the highest tier) with Continental. How likely would United be to increase my status if I planned to fly them more? I doubt that they'd give me 1K, but has anyone gotten Premier Executive in this situation? How long does it usually take United to process these sorts of changes? (I'm probably going to be flying them a lot within the next month.) Thanks a lot.

Hmmm actually YES!
It is called "Go for the Gold" call the Mileage Plus number and ask for the fax number... I got mine in 1 week, others in 2 days... you need to fax proof of elite status.. they comp up to Premier Exec once...

Yeah, I found out about this one a little too late last year. I was 10,000 miles from PE and was getting a seat assignment and mentioned that I was Platinum on AA and the agent said "Oh you should have sent in proof of your status and we would grant you comparable status."
My company prefers for us to use AA for travel but after I sent an email with this info to my coworkers UA ticketing picked up in the office.
Oh well live and learn...

I am Preffered Plus (PP) on US and was comped to Premire Executive on UA. Just had to fax UA a copy of my latest US statement showing PP status. Good Luck!!

alvn,
I was comped to PremEx within 24 hours when I faxed them my NWA/AS statements and copies of my 1999 status cards. If this is the way you want to go, do it ASAP to give yourself enough time to qualify for 1K before the end of the year. Unfortunately, I waited until June and only flew 67,000 UAL miles in the remaining 6 months of the year, leaving me PremEx for the better part of 2000 as well. Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe I should write them and tell them this story.

Should be no problem to get PremEx comped if you fly equivalent mileafge on a competitor. I have several friends who have done it.

no (big) problem to get comped to Premex (for the running calendar year only - and only once for some years).
Never heard of anybody being comped to 1K.
