I received my Prem Exec. renewal kit two days ago. Contents were amazingly boring. Outside of the card itself, there was nothing useful. Even the benefits brochure included lacked any meaningful information.

Craig,

You are lucky to get one at all, however, I agree that when I received my PremEx kit last year, I was extremely dissapointed.

My NWA Silver (one level lower) was far more fun and had a lot better bennies and when you become AS MVP Gold you feel like a national hero(ine). Let's face it getting lots of upgrade coupons is not a reason to fly UAL--unless maybe it is better when we hit 1K. Right now I get at least two confirmable one-way upgrades each month from AS and although I have flown at least 10,000 miles per month on UAL for 7 straight months now, I have never received even one whimpy coupon book with a statement and that depresses me even more when I think about the fact that it will take me at least 2 and 1/2 books to upgrade one single RT flight. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Oh, John, is that me? I am crushed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Much to my disappointment, I had to burn 50k miles on an upgrade today because my 1K re-welcome package has not arrived. And even though I had 10 (count 'em... TEN) books of 4x500 mile upgrades as of November, when the last statement arrived, plus 4 one-way N. America confirmed upgrades... I am beginning to run low.

Any day now folks... and to think how United got my hopes up with the November mailing arriving so propmtly. Let's not revert to the old, eh?

I'm a fairly new Premier-- I qualified in December for 99/2000 status. Having just flown over 10,000 miles since qualifying, when can I expect seeing the upgrade certs? Is June/July a reasonable expectation?

QuietLion Feb 2, 2000 11:31 am

The upgrade coupons usually come about 5 months after the flight in which you cross the 10K barrier. The 25K miles you fly to make Premier for the first tim do not count. Codeshares do not count (except Shuttle and United Express). Bonus miles do not count. Star Alliance partners do not count.

They usually come with the statement that shows the flight that crossed the 10K mark. If they don't, call Mileage Plus immediately. It is not at all unusual for them to be stolen.

I also just received today my 15 Oct - 4 Jan statement with February newsletter and appropriate 500 mile and 1K Confirmed North American upgrades enclosed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Expiry dates on both types: March 31, 2001

QuietLion Feb 3, 2000 5:21 pm

Just got same as you, PremEx.

SF1K Feb 4, 2000 9:13 am

Well I will count myself as lucky I guess.

Received my statement, including the appropriate number of 500-mile upgrade books (two), and the appropriate number of confirmed North America Upgrades (four).

YEAH!!!

Maybe it is United condolence to me for having had a terrible start to the new year. First Grandma's funeral, then a friend on Alaska Airlines. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

LAX 1K Feb 4, 2000 10:59 am

First, SF1K, you and your friend's family are definitly in my prayers.... so hard to see someone you care about leaving like that.

Second, I got my package yesterday also, I am still not sure if it is the right amount of Upgrade Certs, theyconfuse me so much... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif But I have the confirmable upgrades, so I am ready to go http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Punki Feb 7, 2000 9:36 pm

I was so excited when I was driving home from work today--I just knew I would have mail from United. I was right I did!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

But poor sad-faced me. I just ripped it all open to find a silly PremEx kit for 2000. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif No statement, no upgrades, no nothing.

If yesterday flight hadn't come with a Captain's card and free bottle of wine to take home, I just might have run away tonight and found another airline. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

I think I'll go drink my United wine and console myself with my new Alaska one-way, confirmed upgrades. Why is United so stingy????????
