United Connection Software

Call me old fashion, but I prefer United Connection over the Web. However, I have new computers and have lost the 3.0 version. Does anyone have a CD I can borrow to load the software? Since United has yet to post a date for its demise, I assume it will be around for awile. E-mail me and I will give you an address. Thanks

PremEx, can you email it to me as well? I installed the software after discovering I can use vouchers with it, but I only have version 2.0 on CD. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone think that any amount of urging from loyal UA users of United Connection (disk based) could encourage UA not to kill it?

I have already written. No response. But YES! If you don't want it gone, do please write United and tell them that it is important to you to keep United Connection Software and their own network.

Thanks to PremEx for the email!

I have also written United to suggest they keep supporting the software.

It's obvious that United knows how many users there are for the software UC. The software is there and running well, even if it never gets updated. The main cost to United is the VAN that they are using, in this case Compuserve (now owned by AOL.) While I don't know whether Compuserve charges by the packet or by connecion time, It surely costs them more than using the web.

The decision to discontinue must take into account whether they would lose any of the current users. They must realize that those of us that are using UC software are willing to forego 500 miles per booking!

Personally, although I would hate to lose the UC software facility, I would continue flying UA.

Frankly, if the cost to UA is through their own network, I wouldn't necessarily mind them offering United Connection disk-based access only through an Internet connection.

Personally, I use the software with the Internet connection option instead of the CompUServe number. It's much more elegant in my opinion. Also, you only give up 500 miles per booking if you have only 2 segments. With 4 or more segments, you still get 1000 miles (250 x 4). But when I fly just to Chicago, I use the web to get 1000 miles (500 x 2).

I was the one who posted the link, and have subsequently deleted my own post.

(I did this after consulting with others on this board. If you want the information that was in my post, email me and I will email it to you)
