I am surprised. I am surprised they didnt offer some sort of paid double eqm promo. I dont think they needed to add this to be honest and although I would have prefered they did not I will go ahead and knock out 1k in the next month and then decide if I want to go for more swu's or just get status on another airline.......so works for me but still prefer no double eqm promotions.

Don't do this one -- you have the LAX-AMS and LHR-LAX flights booked under a single flight number. This reduces your miles significantly and your changes for an UG.

Well, now that I'll have safely requalified for 1K, I think I might just book my annual circle pacific trip on OW!

About time!
Better late than never!
Holy crap! I kept clicking "next," "register," etc., trying to get to the screen where it displayed what the registration fee would be (remembering that $499 from last time)...and was amazed to get all the way to the end, and find that registration is FREE! ^

Talking

woo hoo !!!

i have 24k miles booked during this period and should clear 1k by july. all my travel is business and the company is cracking down on travel in general.. and booking united in particular is becoming increasingly hard. all my bookings are economy as-cheap-as-they-can-get fares (virtually no 1.5 cos bonus) so my 1k status have been earned the hard way.

i was likely to make 1k but it was going to be a stretch

2009 is slated to be our retirement year and really want to carry the status forward....

now if we can only get the us$$ to have some value - 2009 will be a year of int'l travel....

Don't do this one. LAX/SFO-LHR can be had for sub $560-660 for may 2-4, if you get creative, you'll get lots of miles w/ that one.

PS. This promotion wouldn't affect my ability to retain the status, but it would definitely speed-up the process or provide bigger margin of comfort. My complain is not personal, but relates to general UA policy adopted since Ch11 to treat overseas MP members like orphans.
I just 'moved' back to my US Address!

The point is not to reward for existing travel.. Its to get you to book more

So do like me

I just booked 2 redeye LAX-JFK-LAX

leave phx around 8pm and back by 2pm the next day. Sleep on the plane. with my existing planned travel ( and i am lucky that i already had 11K EQM booked in that time frame which is now 22K EQM) I will wrap up 1K for the year by the end of July. That will be a big load off my mind

Don't have time to peruse the entire thread, so forgive me if it has already been covered.

Right now in the middle of an itinerary, departure before promo period. Returning on the 26th (AMS-IAD), after promo period begins. Would I receive the dbl EQM for the return flight?

Wow

I was wondering if I could afford to make 1K this year. Since I have done 21,000 BIS and have already planned more than 30,000 BIS for the promo period, the answer is a resounding YES!

Actually the point (or a big part of the point) is to avoid having you defect to a different program/airline who is offering a similar promotion. That's why the promotion applies to tickets purchased before registration.
