EQMs on Star Alliance code-share

I recently flew LHR-DME on BMI. It was a BMI operated flight outbound and I have already received my EQMs for that segment. On the return however, BMI cancelled the morning flight I was on, and put me on a codeshare flight with Transaero Airlines, but it was Transaero metal. What are the chances that I get EQMs for the return segment? If I don't get credited, do you think United would make an exception since I was bumped off a flight that would have given me EQMs?

I'm guessing the chances are slim to nil. The rules are very clear on codeshare flights - you only earn miles when both the marketing carrier and operating carrier are UA partners. Personally, I see your case and would be fairly annoyed in your situation since you were supposed to be on a flight that earned EQM's - but I doubt that they will be sympathetic to your cause.

True, but if I read the OP's post correctly, they were reaccomodated off their scheduled BMI flight onto the non *A carrier. In that case, I do think they would have grounds to ask for the "original routing credit" that they would have received from BMI.

Not true. That rule only applies to CA. As long as the flight is operated by any other *A member, it makes no difference whatsoever who markets it (i.e. what the flight number is).
