I was also surprised that they were serving Y using trays instead of a cart. Are these plane-specific programs that cause the lower service, route specific, time, or something else. The warm food, metal utensils, plates, etc. that I'm used to made this feel like F-. Now, since I debated using 3-e500s and didn't need any, I'm not really complaining, just trying to understand. Thanks.
You were on an ex-Shuttle 737 (no ovens or aisle carts), and this post belongs in the First Class thread.

Either salad or sandwich probably with soup as well as a warm cookie for dessert.

Will do! May try the low-cal meal since it was great on my last trip.

Last month it was a chicken fajita thing (gross) or a samon salad, no soup. I think UA considers it a non lunch/dinner flight.

This is a complete meal served all at once at the time of your choosing, so you can maximize your time while on board.

International cheese selection
Kerrygold Vintage Cheddar, Port-Salut

Ice Cream

prior to arrival

Continental breakfast featuring a fruit appetizer, yogurt, breakfast bread and fruit preserves

--

The Trotter appetizer was really good, but as usual just tiny portions. I went against my natural instinct and also ordered the Trotter beef. It turned out to be quite passable -- tender (but a little stringy) beef and a nice sauce. Nothing really "Thai" about it though.

Salad and greens fresh and tasty - especially smothered with the Asian dressing which is to die for. (As attested to in another thread)

Forget the cod. "Chinese style" apparently means totally flavorless, lightly smeared with a completely uninspired sauce, which appeared to have been thickened with some kind of starch product. Would have been better if they'd used the same dressing as for the green salad.
