Recent random experiences as a 1K
1. When I call up 1k reservations, I now interject often in mid-sentence towards the beginning of the dialogue, "Yes you are meeting my travel needs. No I don't need a car nor hotel. Thanks." They always laugh. hehehe.
2. I tried to give away a CR1 to someone in the armed forces as it is expiring. I figured whoever the lucky person is, they are probably not going to the elite line so I went to the non-elite check-in lines at SFO. I explained what I wanted to do and the Asian guy kept saying I have to speak to the elite lines and pointed me away. He did this twice. An Indian UA lady was looking at me like "I can't help you but this guy is really clueless." I said, "And I thought the ICC was bad." She bust out laughing and said, "I know EXACTLY what you mean." I did go to the 1K desk and they said the best way to do this was at the gate. I'll try again.
3. SEA SFO flight was delayed an hour causing me to miss the last Caltrain home. I called the 1K desk and they said it was a crew delay from the very first flight that morning at 7:45am. This was the last flight out for that plane at 6:20pm. I explained it to the gate agent that if I had received a phone call I could have caught an earlier flight. That agent couldn't help. No one else was around. I went to the RCC where Celia (sp?, very very nice) called for a supervisor. I showed the sup. a receipt I happened to have for $110. She gave me a $150 voucher. I ended up taking a shuttle for $35 (Caltrain is $5.50) but got home 2 1/2 hours late at 11:30pm and I have to pack since I have a 7:15am flight tomorrow. Maybe I can catch 2 hours sleep. I'll call this one an even settlement although it is annoying that if the flight is late and is caused by the airline, you have to beg to get something. If the pax misses the flight by 3 minutes, time to ante up $100 for the change fee and maybe they can get you on a flight in 4 days. (yes this is an exaggeration but not by too much)

Done number one many times myself, and have also gotten quite a few chuckles. Apparently they don't have to ask anymore whether or not they have met our travel needs, or so I hear.

"... the Asian guy kept saying I have to speak to the elite lines and pointed me away. He did this twice. An Indian UA lady was looking ..."
Confirms that race is still important.

An Israeli friend of mine told me that all Jews in Israel are Asians too.

Nevermind, I'd rather not further that discussion.
