Why not just install F on Ted?

An insane proposal, since it's not going to occur...

Um... probably because that would just make it a regular A320? Or do you mean just one row of F? Presumably the extra revenue from those F seats (4 of them), taking into account how often they would be sold as revenue rather than as upgrades, would not offset the lost revenue from the extra row of Y that would be lost (6 seats). One has to assume that UA made this calculation when implementing Ted... though knowing UA's management, that may be a really bad assumption.

cepheid is exactly correct... not to mention that the Ted A320 doesn't have an oven, so the meal service would be very inconsistent compared to mainline.

You could do one more and still only have three FA's, but I don't think it would be worth it for UA.

Lucky are you sure they have no ovens? I believe they are in the back. I always smell a nice warm meal as the FA's pass my exit row and give it to the flight crew. Either way they still won't add first seats.

If Ted added F, wouldn't it just be mainline UA?

Well, UA can call Ted whatever it wants. It could just have one row of F and half cups of soda on coach.

Hmmmm, because United would never serve a patron in F wine in a plastic cup?

The shuttle doesn't have an oven, they provide meals on that. They definately don't compare with regular meals but they are there. There is an oven on TED however, but that was already stated. The place where the oven would be up front is taken by the video equipment.

First class TED, huh? Perhaps you would get a full cup of soda, lucky! But since there isn't closet space, what would do with your coat? It seems like this idea is just setting up another complaint thread, "FA's only gave me 3/4 a cup of soda and one ice cube in TEDfirst, Unbelievable!" or "FA stuffed my coat into her bag due to the lack of closet space."

Seriously, I am just kidding. There are a lot of complaints about this actually. When Ted first came out, there was a lot of hype about it, which has seemed to dwindle. They don't really talk about it anymore so I am wondering if they are just going to get rid of it altogether. However, this is just a rumor, and if it is indeed true, I'm sure we won't see the actual plane reconfiguration for a very long time.

Or they could defend such an action by blaming Ted...not United.

FirsTED need not be on the same level of service as UnitedFirst.

Hmmm, I wonder if TED will ever have something like a suite I can see the FA now directing unsuspecting pax below deck to the cargo hold.
