Question Specific UGS Qualification Question

I know we're discussed the qualifications for UGS many times, but I don't know if this has been addressed:

Do flights on UA metal, but under an LH flight number, count for FF BIS if booked in FPACDZYB? I know the opposite (LH metal, UA flight number) does *not* count. However, I thought it was just "the metal" that mattered? This is an LH ticket (220), but I know that is irrelevant.

Has any current UGS flown UA metal under LH flight number had had it credit to FF BIS on 1K site?

Thanks,
-BJ

I don't know the answer to your specific question, but as we all know UGS qualification/requalification can be based as much on qualitative data as quantitative data; I believe that UA does take into account LH transatlantic flying in F.

I say that as I have been UGS since its inception, and while I fly the odd UA SFO/JFK and SFO/LHR in F, most of my travel is SFO/FRA, and that is mostly on LH metal on LH paper, with the occasional UA flight thrown in (although the new 5pm FRA/SFO flight has definitely increased my use of UA metal). My F/C/full Y flights on UA do not add up to 50K miles, but my EQMs and spend are significant.

UA does not could LH flights for UGS. Your $ spend on UA metal must be high.

Do you know that that the 220 stock is irrelevant? Do UA flights numbers on UA metal but on 220 stock count?

Yes, they do. I have many counted in my FF BIS total. 220 ticket. UA metal. UA flight number.

Even if you book on LH codeshareflight numbers on UA metal, the MP posting will show the UA flight number.

Two example
Booked UA Codeshare on LH - MP showed actual LH flight number
Booed RG codeshare on UA - MP showed actual UA flight number

So MP will show UA flight numbers for UA metal no matter what? That might lead one to believe that they *will* count.

In my experience, they always show the flight number for the operating carrier. We had a flight on LH metal booked with a JK flight number, and it posted with the LH flight number.

Have you asked the UGS people at United?

Yes, and the answers are inconsistent. If some here has flown UA metal, but on a codeshare flight number, and had it credit to FF BIS, that would be more conclusive.

How about UA C-class flights on LX "724" stock?

In this situation it makes perfect sense that UA would count the miles, as UA gets the ticket revenue once they lift the LH coupon. However, if it is a LH flight number on UA metal the answer may be different, since then UA doesn't keep all the revenue, since you are booking into LH's portion of the seats.

I'm also surprised to hear UA doesn't count flights on LH transoceanic flights, since UA/LH have a revenue sharing agreement. Thus, UA doesn't really care if you fly UA or LH over the ocean, as the ticket revenue is the same.

This is off topic, but I don't think it's the case that they share revenue 50%/50%... If they did so, the operating carrier would suffer since they pay the expenses. Either the revenue sharing formula is not 50/50, or it's a gross profit share. Or something....

All that said, STILL *no one* knows the answer to my question? Amazing...
