500 mile upgrades no longer converted to miles
I recently found that 500-mile upgrade certs expire on/after Jun 1 are no longer converted to 500 miles.
Is there anything we can do now?

If that's the case and you have some that are going to expire, I'd imagine that you can redeem them now. I know in the past that if someone was just a little short on miles for an award, they could redeem 500s instantly by phone to get them over the threshold.
I'd be interested to know where you got this information.

If thats true, a HUGE to UA. They only thing that would make this ok was if e-500s no longer expired, but I doubt that will ever happen.

It's been on united.com since the beginning of the year, though people have still reported successful conversions. http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=642550. If it's confirmed, I have a batch to convert...
They've updated the Elite pages. Here's the excerpt from the 1K page:
I wonder if it's too late even to request conversion?

Thanks all for your suggestion. I recognized 500-milers could be converted at any time with just a call but I was not sure at the situation right now.
I can just say if you call MP desk right now, they should be notified about this issue.

I am very confused but this is not the first time that this has happened to me.
I was under the impression that one could convert e500s to miles before expiration.
This is very different from expired e500s not being automatically converted.
Does united mean that they are covering both cases because I have a batch to convert within a couple of weeks?

By the way, SingTEL001, thanks for the heads-up. Hopefully we can salvage some conversions in the next two weeks.

I assume all conversions are covered. The question I have is if you have some expiring in July, can you even convert them now, since they fall under the "expiring on or after June 1, 2007" clause?

The last time this was posted (there was a thread about this a while ago), people seemed to think that the notice on united.com applied only to purchased e-500s, not to ones earned through elite travel.
Do people think this now applies to all e-500s, whether purchased or earned through travel?

I think the rule applies to all certificates. United stuck a sentence at the bottom of the upgrade page for 2P, 1P, and 1K stating that no certificates can be converted into miles starting on June 1, 2007.
