My experience is that the FAs are just as likely to give you 2 minis as to say one is 2 :)

The only policy we have is that we are not allowed to serve two alcoholic beverages at the same time.
 |
Last weekend, when I asked for a Bloody Mary, I got 2 small cans of Bloody Mary Mix (equaling one full standard can) and two (2) minis of Smirnoff. :)
Then again, this wasn't on UA but on AirTran, which is a LCC. |
gosh united must be desperate to save a few bucks

....To make sure this never happens again simply bring your own minis in your toiletry bag, and if necessary, put whiskey or rum in a Listerine bottle.

If she's willing to leave me the mini so I can mix a drink during taxi/takeoff then I have no problem! Saves me from having to violate UA rules, FAA regulations, international treaties, the Will of God and the laws of the universe by mixing one from my own stash during that iterminable period between the pre-departure drink and the first round in the air.
And, "interminable"???? |

But back to topic, a mini is definitely not enough for two drinks. :td: to that FA |

I think what the OP experienced was one of the "teetotler" (sp?) FAs. Every once in a while you'll come accros one that feels drinking is a sin and will act all "shocked" and "worried" when you order that third drink on a 6 hour flight. "You're not driving when you land, are you?"

Minis haven't been 2 oz in, well, since I was in school. A shot is, in fact 1 oz, but very few mixed drinks call for just 1 oz of booze. Even in the days when people were smaller and more temperate, the minimum serving of adult beverage was 1.5 oz or a "jigger." |

Alas, just about everything worth doing is against some silly, invasive rule or another. An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.

An official "drink" is 1.5 oz of 80 proof liquor, 4 oz of wine, or 12 oz of beer. This FA was clueless, mistrained, evangelical or simply messing with the paying customer. :td:
