Code Share on UPS?

I just went to book a flight in July from PVD to LHR. I was looking at BT-Store.com, and when my itinerary popped up it lists my PVD to IAD leg as a code share operated up United Parcel Service!

DEPART:
Thursday, July 26, 2007
United 8026 (PVD) Providence, RI, USA (IAD) Washington-Dulles, DC, USA Embraer RJ145 Amazon
FLIGHT OPERATED BY: UNITED PARCEL SERVICE
Thu, Jul 26 2:08 PM 3:53 PM STOPS: 0
1.45 hrs Economy
363 mi

Thursday, July 26, 2007
United 918 (IAD) Washington-Dulles, DC, USA (LHR) London-Heathrow, England, UK Boeing 777
Thu, Jul 26 6:03 PM 6:20 AM (next day) STOPS: 0
7.17 hrs Economy
3672 mi

Did I miss something or did I just become freight?

Wow... That's all I can say.
UPS operates passenger flight nowadays?
I hope it's just a glitch.

At least you'll be on time!

In all likelihood, just another one of those ridiculous .bomb glitches we are seeing right now.

Hmmm. Maybe this is an early rollout of the "bare fares" concept: Travel as freight and pay by the pound. (Oxygen costs another $5, though!)

Yes, UPS really does (or at least did) move pax!

I believe it was back in 1997 that UPS configured a few of their 727's such that they could slide in a cabin 'module' and convert them to passenger service for the slower weekend period.

I've seen a few reports (notably on cruise critic) of folks being flown here or their to catch their cruises on UPS birds.

Not certain whether this practice continues today.

Makes good economic sense though, like everybody else they get paid when their birds are in the air, not while they sit on the ground.

Maybe someone miskeyed 5X, the IATA code for UPS, instead of AX, the code for Trans States. I hope that it isn't the case anywhere more important.

I think it would be kinda cool to fly on a UPS plane, or is it just me? One more livery to add to the collection

Of course, I'd want to fly as a pax and not cargo!
