Waitlist
Hi,
I'm trying to book a flight on SABRE from SFO-NRT in Q class and the fare is full but waitlist is available so I put myself on the waitlist. How do I know if I can get a confirmed seat on the flight? Do I need to call United to have them confirm me on that segment? I'm AC elite (*G) so do I have any priority on the waitlist?
Thanks.

Computer? You mean United's computer? The one that changed my flight so I have a minus 50 minute connection time? Or is it the one that sends out junk emails? Or the one that displays 0 bonus miles?
Sorry, but when it comes to United computers (or United programmers, maybe) I have very little faith in them doing the expected...

Thanks for the replies.
Does anyone know when the "computer" decides to release the seats and change my segment from waitlist to confirmed status? Is this something that is done automatically? Or does someone at UA physically have to do it?
What I'm worried about is if my flight date is approaching and I'm still on the waitlist, should I just change to a higher class fare or wait it out? There is inventory in other booking classes but not the cheaper one that I'm in right now.
I'm just wondering what the procedures are for something like this so I can decide what to do. Are the waitlist procedures for other airlines similar?
