What does this mean?

I am trying book a round trip from SFO to PHL. The return segment showes a U fare. When I checked in the UA Forum Glossary here, it says "U: Showed up Nov/03 as booking class for TED also in mid 2005 a high level mainline class!" What does that mean? Will it be Economy Plus? or 1st class? This in on a Air Bus 319.

"U" is an economy class fare.

You will be in economy. If you have status or E+ access, then as usual you will be in E+. I just checked experflyer.com, and it says that this is a coach-class fare with a price of $ 832 RT on fare basis code UE7N3NX and $870 RT on fare basis code UE31NNX. Complete rules and restrictions are copied for you below; sift through at your leisure. I should also point out that all the nonstop SFO-PHL and PHL-SFO flights are mainline, so given the high cost of the ticket, there could be a chance to get treated like a Y/B and get the F upgrade (since no Ted), but I'm not 100% sure on whether that would fly or not.

Yep, a normal economy class fare ticket. Been on 5-8 U class flights this year and I couldn't feel any difference...
