Do you get the difference in a $$$ voucher?
I have some trips coming up that I am hoping to get bumped on. If I am able to convince the gate agent to give me the $$$ voucher instead of the DBC-Free one, how does it work if the flight you book is less than the voucher?
I.e. The voucher is for $400, and your trip is $300. Do you get a $100 voucher to cover the difference, or do you lose the extra $$?
I cannot seem to find the answer on the website or by searching the forum.
Thanks.

You do not get the difference if the price of the ticket is less than the voucher; you forfeit it. UA is nice enough to break up the vouchers into smaller denominations (4 X $150 is common) to help with this.

The vdb amount is not related to your ticket price. It's usually 200, 400 or 600 based on the time you arrive to your destination vs your original plans - the amount of the delay

UA will break it up - but will UA allow you to combine more than one voucher on a single ticket? I've heard mention of a "B" type vouchers but im not sure what they are..

There are specific rules on types of vouchers and if they can be combined or not. I don't recall what type the VBD ones are, but I have been able to combine them with the vouchers you can get when the price of a booked itinerary goes down after purchase and those are issued as Type B vouchers.

VDB vouchers are type B (payment vouchers). Type A vouchers are discount vouchers.
