Itinerary Changes causing problems
Why is it that when UA has a change in flights or times of flights - when they make the changes it throws the whole Itinerary off kilter!
I am booked RSW/ORD/BKK 11/30 and return BKK./ORD./RSW January 9th
The Flt from ORD to RSW (Flt 1206) January 9th has been cancelled. (This is odd to start with)... When the changes were made
I was taken off Flt 881 from ORD to Narita (Upper Deck 16A) and put on 883 ( A 777) - This Flight was not involved in the changes. Then on the return everything fine 'til I get to ORD (Flt 882 arr. 2:20PM)... the new ORD-RSW Flight was shown as routing through Washington (IAD) (Flt 936) but the flight shows as leaving at 1:15PM...!! I am already over an hour late for this Flight!!!
What causes all this when changes are made to an Itinerary? Has anyone else suffered this problem? Thanks Hayjon

Everyone who flies very much has suffered thru these changes. Call CS--they're obligated to get you home the best way possible. They will give you the best possible routing since they made the changes.

It helps to suggest a routing IMO. That way the CSR sees you as being helpful and you get exactly what you want ^

I would STRONGLY second that suggestion. Do your homework, have an alternative routing that you'd like to have with all the details. In the half a dozen times this has happened to me, the CSR has always accepted my proposal -- even when it was on an award ticket and the flight I wanted to move to (after a schedule change made an itin impossible) had no award seats showing or even when I was originally booked to CLD but the schedule got hosed so bad that I asked for SNA instead.
No problem on these or any of my requests when a schedule change had made for impossible connections.

It often times works to your advantage. Recently there was a time change caused me to have an illegal connection. So I suggested a non-stop flight to her. She gladly obliged. I did not purchase the non-stop flight originally because the non-stop flight was quite a bit more expensive. Now I can sleep in a bit as the flight now departs at 7:30 am instead of 6 am.
