Yeah, well, my second outbound next week is Thursday morning in the heart of that pre-8am security crunch, so I suspect I will be giving the new line a much-needed tryout then...

2P?

So far people have not been too clear about whether or not the line will be for 2Ps. Thanks for the update.

Me too, the 10th. And I'd like to cut the time closer than usual on that day since it's a one-night trip to DC. Maybe they will have a trial run (soft opening as they say in the hotel industry).

I hope this provides more of an advantage than the elite check-in lines have. In my experience, the premier and 1K ticket lines at Dulles are often just as long as the lines for general members and they sometimes seem to move even slower (I'm assuiming as a result of more complicated itineraries, upgrades to process, etc.).

That's cause all anyone knows is the small paragraph posted on the 1K Only site.

Regarding the statement

I would hope that the elite-line "guards" will be rationale about this and not make us dig for our card when our status is clearly shown on our boarding passes (which we need to have out anyway).

It will STILL be the slowest security line in the western hemisphere, but a step forward no less

I have to disagree, its definitely long and hardly fun but other airports are slower at their TSA stations, especially those with low volume so they have time to be overly "serious"

I guess it depends on how you define "slowest" -- total overall time or how fast the line moves.

I fly out of CHO a lot and it's not uncommon for them to take 3-5 minutes for my security screening. Of course, since I'm also the only person in line, my total screening time is: 3-5 minutes.

Just one more reason that I still consider CHO to be the most convenient remote parking lot for IAD.
