Noob E+ Question

Probably a silly and obvious question, but perhaps you of expert traveldom can offer up something I don't know.

I am booked on UA755 from ORD to SEA tomorrow morning. According to the seat configuration, it looks like a 777-200 WW (according to SeatGuru).

I currently have 22 EQS and 15,342 EQM. I also have 9 segments already ticketed.

My intention when I booked the flight was to pay to upgrade to E+ when I checked in on-line. Seems like a good use of funds to me. When I checked in, however, it offered me a paid upgrade to C. I turned it down and went to choose my seat. The seat selecter would then only let me choose from E- seats (and only a small handful at that). I tried to re-check in, re-select seats, etc. But I could never get it to offer me a paid upgrade to E+.

So now I'm booked in seat 31A. If I go to ticketing in person tomorrow morning, will they let me upgrade to E+? Can I do it at the gate? I don't have status yet but will after I fly my current booked segments. Will this make a difference at all? Anything else you think I need to know?

Thanks in advance for your help. This stuff is all new to me.

It may be that there aren't any E+ seats for you to upgrade. This may change when upgrades are processed. I would check at the gate and ask the agent about the upgrade to E+. Most likely you will be charged -- it's your current status that matters.

How much was the upgrade to C? That would have been worth more than the E+ upgrade methinks...

I would get to the airport early and ask at the gate. Most likely there is a blocked middle seat available for you. It's also likely that if any upgrades clear at the gate, some E+ seats would open up.

From a look at the seatmap, there is only 1 economy- seat left, but about 51 economy plus (E+) seats open.

If you planned on using your printed boarding passes to go to security and not check bags and what not, I'd go ahead and wait and just ask at the gate if there are any open E+ seats that you can upgrade to.

Enjoy your flight.
