Aged E-Ticket?

Aged E-Ticket?
My wife was to go on a flight form Chicago to White Plains back in December. Due to heavy snow she decided not to go, however the flight did go out.
I spoke to an agent today about reusing ticket. She was able to find it, but was considered an 'aged e-ticket."
She advised if we wanted to use the old ticket, they would have to have the "Honolulu" ticket department determined if the reservation was in fact cancelled BEFORE flight.
My wife does not think she cancelled BEFORE.
Anybody have any experience with this and how to work with the situation.
The ticket has about $200 or so in value.

I haven't heard that term before. As far as I know, as long as you cancel a ticket before midnight on the day the first flight departs, the ticket retains its value minus whatever cancellation fees apply (usually $100).

That is correct. It has to be cancelled before midnight of first segments departure city time zone. It is also a good idea to write down the person you spoke with as well as time and date. If you cancel online, print out a copy of your cancellation.
Your canceled tickets credit is good for one year from original issuance date. You can call UA refund department at 888/551-6881, punch in your ticket number starting with 016. It will give you the history of that e-ticket.
