So basically, 2P without the 25% bonus, can't earn 500-milers, and 36-hour upgrade window. Not a bad deal.

Yikes, with more levels, why dont they just label GM as "lower than scum" and list their benefits as:

- Board last
- Sit in back of plane with up to 5 inches less leg room
- Use longest customer service lines

So besides the invitation from elites winning the award, what other ways to be invited?

Next thing you know, people will be able to buy in to it.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a 'dry run' for that...

I too would be very interested in how you actually obtain this status level. I wonder if they are going to offer it as a soft landing for those that didn't qualify which would make some sense. Anyone have any further info or ideas?

TonySCV Feb 27, 2006 4:09 pm

Star silver benefits as well.... surprising.

kevanyalowitz Feb 27, 2006 4:13 pm

For one, 1Ks and 1Ps were allowed to nominate someone to this.

Frankly, I think 3P is a good idea. It will not take away from 2Ps getting upgrades and it seems like a fair way to make status that someone may have not flow to achieve - lower than other levels.

I think this is so lame. All we need now are busier elite check-in lines and security lines; and more people boarding with seating area 1.

olympicnut Feb 27, 2006 4:28 pm

Well, one way to limit the membership would be for 1k's and 1p's NOT to actually invite anyone to this. Was that evil of me to think that? ;)

We all know where this dedicated call center is...

Anyone know how I gift this to my fiancee (I am 1P)

thanks,
JK

Hope I never get invited.

;)

JohnnyP Feb 27, 2006 6:38 pm

So... who isn't going to be boarding in Seating Area 1?!?!?

Assuming she's a keeper (which I hope!), why would she need it? For the first year or two, hopefully you can't bear to be apart and will be traveling together. A few years down the road, sure, separate bedrooms, separate vacations etc., but for now, ride the wave! ^

How did I ever get so cynical? :D

(It actually is a relevant question though. Unless she travels for business, there's not much as much advantage for both of you to have status. If you had a choice of rewards, and bequeathing status to someone was one option, while another might be something you'd find useful... it's just something to think about). (Or maybe this is the subconscious mind of a lowly 2P at work, concerned about the dilution of benefits due to a new flock of pseudo-2Ps about to hit). :p

Those like me who have to get their ticket endorsed over to UA because my flight went mech.

So I don't favor 3P either... too many people boarding before me! :D
