E+ on SK

E+ on SK
I have an upcoming flight ARN-ORD-ARN on UA (SK Metal). Last time flew ORD-ARN I was able to get E+/E-Extra courtesy of my Silver status (when I checked in in ORD) on SK but when I called UA in order to secure a E+ seat they told me that I had to call SK to get that, but SK said that they could not give me an E-Extra seat if beacuse my ticket wasn'nt in bucket Y.
Would it be possible to get E+ ARN-ORD too?
I know that this have been discussed but I had no luck searching for it.

Not sure, but SK definitely markets and sells their Economy Extra cabin at a premium. The seats are different from the regular Economy seats. Not sure if they are consistently letting elite members into that cabin without paying more.

They are not. I showed them my 1K card, they had 1 passenger in the E+ cabin and they still refused to move me. They told me it was a different class of service vs. economy and was only available as upgrade or for sale.
I haven' been on a SK flight since (i was supposed to be in C but someone screwed up) and i go to great lenghts to avoid SK since i strongly believe that their version of E+ should have been made free to elite *A members.

In 2005 I flew SK LHR-CPH-LHR. They saw me waiting in line with my 1P card, and told me get in the Gold line and then they sat us in F going and E+ coming back.

It would certainly be nice if it was possible to snag a E+ seat this time to. I might imagine that it is easier to get E+ when you fly from the US due to the fact that UA staff are familiar with the concept of E+ for elites.

You should have asked this in the SAS forum instead as this has nothing to do with UA.
Just because the flight is in codeshare with UA, it does not mean UA rules apply.
Economy extra is a separate class onboard which is sold and marketed as a separate class, hence it is not the same thing as economy plus on UA.
The only way to get there is to pay for it (buy a proper ticket or pay an upgrade fee at the airport) or hope that economy is overbooked so some people are op-uped.
As with all European carriers, SAS does not give complimentary upgrades.

I flew SAS in late 2004 from IAD. I was a 2P and my business partner was 1P. They moved us both up to the first row of E+ (14EF) based on our status ... let me tell you...it was sweet! It felt like business class. Instead of four seats in the middle row, there were just three.
The SAS gate agents were so darn friendly... I'd just ask.

I am booking an award in business to europe. SAS ORD-ARN segment is the one only available in coach right now.
I checked all other routings and carriers - this is the one I'll have to take. I need help with two questions.
Will I be able to standby for business if I book this segment in coach for now?
If I stay in coach will I be able to get E+ seats? (*A Gold here if it helps). SAS CSR on the phone seemed completely clueless.
