2006 Entertainment Book

Yes, the 2006 has been shipped (I have 20 of them in my dining room!) and the United Coupon and Car Rental Coupons are contained therein.

These coupons are particularly useful for TED trips where you can easily see all the fare buckets so you know that the price you are quoted on the phone is in fact the same as the lowest price shown at flyted.com

I do, however, take issue with the $25-$50-$75 discount which is a lie. As noted above, your actual savings with the coupon is $20-45-70 because you will pay to ticket by phone. Or even worse, ticket in person at airport.

IF UA WAS HONEST IT WOULD NOTE THESE ADDITIONAL MANDATORY "FEES" ON THE FACE OF THE COUPON OR CHANGE THE DISCOUNT $$ AMOUNTS TO REFLECT REALITY.

I received three paper coupons, today, as holiday gift. It was somewhat exciting, until I realized, tonight, they were only good for domestic tickets.

If you can find a travel agent who will issue tickets without a service fee (which some will if you book a hotel and/or car with them) you'll get the full value of the certificate.

Or, do a bunch of MRs and qualify for 1K, then you can have the $5 fee waived.

Angry Entertainment coupon rules changed?

Hi, hope someone knows the inside scoop. I ticketed a reservation for a total fare of $342.50. They only applied a discount of $25 dollars. Their reason being that the discount of $50 only applies to base fares of $300-$474. From my understanding and from the terms on the back, it seems the discount applies to the total fare including taxes and fees. Has anyone experienced this? Has there been a change in rules?

It does not specify specifically that all the discount thresholds are exclusive of taxes, but it is implied in the following:
QUALIFYING FARES: This discount may be used on published United EconomyŽ (H,Q,V,W,S) fares of $150 (exclusive of taxes and fees) or more.

Discount is based on the base fare, not the total fare. If your base fare is very close to the next threshold, i.e. $298 base fare, try to travel on a weekend to raise your base fare to over $299. And then you will get $50 off instead of $25. Hopefully the weekend differential is less than $25, of course.

Just to double-confirm, it is the base fare. I had an agent read me the profile once, and it is explicit.
