I have never had that problem. Compliments of the ART deal, I have been flying US codeshares and UA codeshares a lot. US has always put my BD number in when I ask, once my LH number; I have had to change #'s at 2 different airports (PIT and SFO) and NEVER run into a problem. My guess is bad agents, not bad policy.

This isn't a permanent thing, is it? If so, do you know when it will take place? I just took two trips on United and on Ted and both trips posted quickly and to my Dividend Miles acct with no problem.

I emailed Deborah Thompson of US consumer affairs and she replied immediately saying that Nacy Lash from her office will call me on Monday to follow up with my question.
I called UA and the agent there hadn't heard of any changes. I even called a friend that works at the US Club and she hadn't heard of any changes to the rules and even input my US DM # for me.
Maybe I just had 3 new agents at the CP desk. Who knows. I hope those 3 agents were incorrect.

my LH bookings (in my attempt not to use the improved M&M anymore), the
number vanishes, BPs print at random seat numbers and random status, not
always *G.
So when a BP looks suspicious, I harass any GA I can get hold of until they
print me one that reads *G or - much better - reflects my MP #.
Sometimes, the GA will create ad-hoc laws and safety rules that prevent them from
being helpful. Then a stroll to any gate with any other GA generally
solves the issue.
