Sleeping on floor of 747 in row 15

Recently I was in 15A of the 747. I really hate overnight flights. I decided to experiment by sleeping on the floor and I think I got three hours of real shuteye. Anyone else try this? 15B was empty so had two blankets and pillows to use. Actually it would have been better on the other side since there is more empty space over there.

I flew domestic on Thai on a 747 and their safety video (targeting longhaul flights) has a hilarious segment where they shoe a stick figure on the floor with ZZZZZZZZs coming from his mouth and a red line across this graphic. I am glad that there is no such prohibition on UA!

I guess if you're tired, you'll fall asleep anywhere, but that is a first for me!

I've slept on the floor before. A lot easier than trying to sleep sitting up-I'm not army trained ! But the entire 4 seats were family--2 sisters on the 4 seats, me on the floor, forgot where mom slept.

You just got lucky that's all

Most of FAs don't mind you sleeping on the floor, but they will definitely wake you up once the seatbelt sign is turned on.

I have seriously considered doing this exact thing. It is so tempting.

Assuming the flight is TOTALLY smooth, because when that seat belt sign comes on, how are you going to buckle up on the floor?

My uncle always did this on flights in the days when he used to be a road warrior during the 70s and 80s.

Many people don't want to take their shoes off in the airports going through security (me included). I can't imagine sleeping on the floor of the plane!

I admit I've been tempted, but have never done it - I can't imagine those carpets have ever been cleaned.

I've also found it pretty amusing that on Thai Air they actually announce during the safety briefing that no one is permitted to lie on the floor.

I've heard the same thing on many of my UA flights from SYD-SFO - you're not allowed to lie on the floor.

You never know what might be on the floor.

Since the TSA's started the removal of shoes, I ALWAYS take along a couple of pairs of throw away slippers to use, when going through security check points.

My wife used to sleep on the floor on TWA L-1011's
on long flights and some of the FA's would say she could not do so because she was blocking the exit door. Others said what a good idea or knew me and let it slide.
