Update on the record
Hello,
following question. I am reach 1K (real not light) ;-) on my outbound flight this Wed to MUC. When I fly back Sun the plan is allready oversold by 50 folks in coach.
Is my status updated in the system immed. or how long those it take ??
Some to the 500 miles trip on 3rd Dez waitlist priority ?
When does the reg. Upgrade post to my account then ?
thanks
JR

Call United from Germany a day or two after the flight. The agent will have to remove your Mileage Plus # and re-enter it, which will "elevate" your status to 1K. See the United FAQ, first post, bottom, for a more eloquent description/explanation of what's done...
Congrats on making 1K!

...and this is true for all future travel that was booked prior to you achieving 1K. So call and adjust those as well. If you're 1K you probably do have at least one or two trips pending (unless you're full Y or full C, in which case you probably book as needed).

Congratulations on reaching 1K!
I was actually supposed to fly to MUC on wednesday as well, and back on Sunday (with the direct flight from IAD, but on the way back via LHR with LH, and then to JFK with UA - which is also overbooked) - however, I had to cancel my trip yesterday.
Would have been great meeting a fellow FTer!
Once again, congratulations and enjoy the wonderful city of Munich!

cakobau is correct. There's a good chance that German agents might be so confident that the system is working perfectly that they might not be willing to do a counter-intuitive thing such as deleting your MP number. But this is a well-established aspect of United's system. Be sure to insist that your number is re-entered.

I took a look at the nonstop on Sunday from MUC-IAD. That flight is no where NEAR overbooked as you indicate. If you were hoping for an opup, I'd say don't chance it as I doubt there will be any opups.
