Using three of 4 trip segments

First Time post, long-time reader -- I was able to book JFK/HNL trip via SFO a while back for $280.00 on UA (thanks to FlyerTalk posting). Due to tighter TSA regs etc. I was wondering if there were any ramifications (legal or otherwise) of using the JFK/SFO/HNL/SFO portions of the ticket, and not using the last segment (SFO/JFK) after boarding pass is issued. I do not intend to have any checked luggage.

The TSA could really care less. UA will not do anything based on this. You can always claim that you missed your final connection and found another way home. No harm, no foul.
