There have been dozens of posts on this subject. It was recommended that you call MileagePlus and that they will send you special paper SWU's good for use on LH only. It has also been mentioned that we may be in a sort of transition period, 30 April?, when LH can actually access your UA/MP e-upgrade account and deduct a e-SWU. I have my doubts about this?

There have been several posts/reports that UA/MP issued/printed special paper LH-only e-SWU's have a relatively short shelf life. 30 ~ 90 days if I recall all the various posts correctly? These can be returned and redeposited, reverting to a standard e-SWU, with the original expiration date (31 Jan 2005 in many cases), presumably. Again, your best bet is to search the forum for related posts and/or ring up UA/MP to get the most current information.

Can LH see the electronic ones yet?
Can anyone confirm if the switch has in fact taken place? As of today, the profile for Systemwides still reads all the paper stuff ...

I spoke to MP and the 1K desk today, and they claim they will issue a 1 year paper SWU for LH flights, but you need the LH PNR for you flight before they can be issued.
Of course if I call again tomorrow, I'm sure I will get a different answer.
