"Most Marginal 1K." Can I claim this title? Can you beat me?
Here's my year-end EQM the past 3 years (the only times I've made 1K):
2009: 100,874 EQM
2010: 100,235 EQM
2011: 100,975 EQM projected (based on flights currently booked, with no others planned)
In 2010 I ranked among the bottom 10 FTer 1Ks in the thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...l#post15517674
But my guess is that few people have my proven track record of repeatedly barely making 1K.
In none of these years did I do the 10,000 Choices ==> 1000 EQM conversion. However, in both 2009 and 2010 I did do small mileage-augmenting routing adjustments to put myself over 100,000.
Anyone out there who's even more marginal than I am?
Another interesting question would be lowest spend among all 1K's here. I'm sure I'm not in the running because some of my flights are paid C.

yep, my dad finished last year at 100,033 EQMs! I had to route him PEK-NRT-SFO-AUS instead of PEK-SFO-AUS on Dec 30 to pick up the extra 540 EQMs.
meanwhile, over at AA, I managed to requalify Gold at 25,008 EQMs. Took a long way home by going SFO-LAX-DFW-AUS to grab the extra 274 EQMs.

Your dad was actually only the 3rd lowest of the FTer 1Ks in 2010, per the End of 2010 EQM Rankings thread.
I should have made my post more clear. I wanted to claim a title based on sustained excellence in 1K marginality. But I think you're probably right that it should be an annually-awarded crown.

endrond, your 3 year total for 1K will be hard to beat. My bet is no one can match that on this forum. Your mediocrity and ability to just barely get by would put even my teenage son to shame.

Our company has one exec that is afraid to fly and has not done so in ten years but is given GS every year as part of a corp perk program and since GS is also 1k I would say that's the record.

I think BiS might be a better measure or marginality than EQM. From 2006-2009, our BiS totals averaged 73,363.
Also, don't forget all the people who make 1K with substantially fewer than 100K EQM. There are lots of threads with examples.

I had to get 500 miles in order to go over the top last year, though I also probably could have pushed harder on an A3 flight they screwed up on.
I'm already at 85,878 EQM this year, so its not going to be an issue.

The first year that I made 1K, I did so with 101 EQS and just under 80,000 EQM for the year.

Isn't thread for this somewhere? I had 100,018 in 2008 or 2009 can't remember the year. Almost as good as #1 1K GF who wasn't 1K this past year, but I think she did 1P at 50,005, nearly as good though. :-)
I think in the "re-qualify thread" someone had 100,008 one year
oops, I guess someone had 100,003 one year. That is cutting it really close. :-)

At the end of the day, you're still a 1K, and that's all that matters.
Aside from that, my 2 weekly UX flights will not get me there
