Upgraded US flights but now CO flights not upgradeable

This may have been covered elsewhere so apolgies in advance, but will this change solve the issue with itineraries using electronic upgrades that include both UA and CO flights?
Example is I booked a rountrip SEA-MCO. Used regionals to upgrade. Return flights MCO-SEA both flights are UA metal and both segment upgraded. Problem is outbound flights. SEA-DEN is UA metal and was upgraded, but DEN-MCO is CO metal and not upgraded. In fact now that segemnt shows as nedign to be re-issued and cannot be upgraded except at the airport day of.
Checked with UA and CO on the phone, and with a CO agent at SEA. All have the same basic story, the conflicts between Apollo? and the UA system cause the disconnect as they treat these tickets differently, so once you upgrade UA flight using system or regionals you bump any CO legs into limbo.
I have two other itineraries similar to this one.
Anyone else running into this?
Does it make a difference if you call and ask for assistance instead of doing it on the website?
thx

Unhappy Virtually impossible to use SWU on CO metal

Tried to use a SWU for a UA flight on CO metal 757-200 (Is it really worthwhile to use a SWU to upgrade into a domestic first class seat?), but the website said I didn't have an upgradable itinerary. When I called the 1K desk, they said I would have to logon to a OnePass account with the new member number and pin, or they could transfer the upgrades to the OnePass account if I told them the pin. Having just received the new member number and been informed that they wouldn't tell me the pin for security reasons and not being able to logon to ask for the pin until 3/3, I'm in a catch-22. At least I don't feel too bad, because it looks like all the seats in first are already sold out for the 3/3 departure - maybe I'll be able to do something before the return.

And who's great idea was it to schedule a domestic CO 757 on an international route - neither international first seats (don't even dream about lie-flat) nor E+ ? WSJ also reported that a lot of them can't make it back to the US without stopping off for gas somewhere on the way

FYI: All of the CO 752 have E+ and flatbed seats up-front. They don't have a domestic variant like we do at UA.

Sure doesn't look like it based on the seating diagram for the flight.

Will all this come to an end after March 3? So, if I will flying say EWR-LHR, I would just simply apply a UA SWU.
